A little History

Duwayne Dykehouse Jr purchased 5 acres with an existing 18,000-sq ft of glass range from Don Emelander in 1974 to start his greenhouse business on 40th Avenue in Hudsonville MI.He has implemented several necessary expansions over the years to make his business the thriving year-round enterprise it is today. There currently are 5 acres under glass that are in constant stages of propagation, pre-finished, and finished plant production, and DGI grows over 2000 different plant varieties.Duwayne’s Greenhouses Inc’s philosophy and mission is to strive to continue growing relationships season to season. The first crops grown included leaf & bibb lettuce and tomatoes. In 1975 he discontinued the vegetable production and began production of bedding plants, using seedlings. In 1980 he started growing geranium stock for local growers. In 1984 geranium sales expanded through nationwide brokers. Duwayne hired his first grower in 1985 to assist with crops.

Duwayne’s Greenhouses Inc is owned by G Pepper Holdings as of July 1, 2013.The new business mission is to be large enough to serve our customers, and small enough to care. DGI continues to expand both in products and services, and looks forward to a Bigger and Better future!
